The Webb School
The Character of Home
The Webb School has a 140-year history of challenging, university-preparatory academics for boys and girls in grades 7-12. Our small community of 310 students embraces students of diverse backgrounds, personalities and interests. Together, they become a part of Webb’s great tradition, and with firm loyalty to trust and integrity, grow to become independent, confident, and responsible citizens of the world. Our rural and intimate setting promotes a focus on personal values, not materialism, so that student acceptance comes from within. These unique qualities create what we call The Character of Home.

To put it simply, it’s cool to be smart at Webb. Our learning environment is marked with small classes in which students learn to think creatively and critically. Webb offers 10 AP courses along with other very challenging courses. But, we truly break the mold with our public performance program, which fosters our students’ emerging voices while developing their academic passions.
Webb’s SAT Average over the last three years is 1844. Our students have been accepted to some of the finest universities in the country, including American University, Boston College, Carleton College, Centre College, Columbia University, Cornell, Davidson College, Duke University, Emory University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins, Kenyon College, New York University, Northwestern University, Rice, Smith College, Tufts University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt University, Wake Forest University, and Yale University.
English as a Second Language
This English program for international students includes levels for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced English leaner. Students in this program attend regular math classes appropriate to their grade levels. ESL students are mainstreamed into regular Webb classes after one or two years of study in the ESL program.
Athletics, The Arts, and The Great Outdoors
Our small community, and numerous activity offerings create opportunities for students to pursue their passions outside the classroom. Webb is competitive in each of its 16 varsity sports. Our fine arts program offers two theatre productions each year as well as a choir, string ensemble, piano and guitar classes and numerous opportunities for the visual arts. Students who love the outdoors embrace the numerous trips, including whitewater rafting, local day hikes, and extended long weekend trips available through Webb’s Outerlimits program. Webb’s Wilderness Instruction and Leadership Development (WILD) is a special program that combines outdoor skills and leadership training.
Life at Webb
We recognize the responsibility associated with offering an international program. The school understands that international students and their families will have particular needs and concerns to be addressed. To this end, Webb offers one-on-one tutoring, faculty advisors, weekend excursions, transportation to and from the airport, homestay families during long breaks, and other services to benefit the international student and his or her family.
Although Webb is located in a small town, there are many opportunities nearby for weekend fun. Typical activities on campus include dances and pizza and game nights. Webb also offers off-campus trips to restaurants, the mall, and movies in Murfreesboro (20 minutes away); sporting events, concerts or the theatre in Nashville (1 hour away); or hiking, canoeing, and white water rafting throughout the region. Webb students also enjoy visiting our small town with brief walks downtown to the local coffee shop, restaurant or ice cream parlor.
Location
