Mike Buskirk, Daria Mason and family; Scott and Janet Nossek and family; and Michael and Theresa Garré and family have earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their support of nonprofit EF Foundation for Foreign Study (www.ef foundation.org), the leader in high school exchange.
For the past nine months, the three families have opened their hearts and homes to three high school students from Germany and Japan.
As host families in Pine and Payson, they have been instrumental in supporting a priority United States foreign policy goal of expanding communications between U.S. citizens and people from other countries.
“Our experience hosting an exchange student has enriched our lives more than we imagined, said Scott and Janet Nossek.
“It is amazing how one student can impact not only a host family, but an entire school and community. We often hear from students, and adults, what a positive influence Urara, our exchange student has been in their life. We couldn’t agree more!
